Police in Norway’s capital, Oslo have neutralized an explosive device found in a busy area of downtown Oslo late Saturday night and have arrested a Muslim suspect.

Eyewitnesses reported that a number of police cars were called to the area. Police said on Twitter that they believe the device “does not have a huge potential for injuries.”

Police Chief Vidar Pedersen confirmed that the “bomb-like device” was an explosive.

“Every restaurant was being closed,” said 23-year-old Malin Myrvold, who witnessed the scene from a fourth-story window. “You could see cops in heavy armor going in every store and restaurant.

“We were trying to see what was going on. The police were screaming at us to get back inside and stay where we were,” she added by telephone.

Norway has been put on high alert after it’s neighbor Sweden was victimized by a truck attack in Stockhold that killed 4 and injured 15. The suspect in Friday’s attack, a Muslim male from Uzbekistan, was arrested.
